
Uterine prolapse can occur in women of any age but it often affects women who’ve had two or more vaginal deliveries.
Symptoms of uterine prolapse
Mild uterine prolapse generally doesn’t cause signs or symptoms. However, signs and symptoms of moderate or severe uterine prolapse include-
- Sensation of heaviness or pulling in your pelvic
- Tissue protruding from your vagina
- Urinary problems such as urine leakage (incontinence) or urine retention
- Feeling as if you are sitting on a ball or as if something is falling out of your vagina
- Sexual concerns, such as sensation of looseness in the tone of your vagina tissue.
When to see a doctor?
Go and see a doctor as soon as possible when you experience above mentioned symptoms and when it becomes painful and disrupt your normal activities.
Causes
- Have had two or more vaginal deliveries
- Being overweight or obese
- Low estrogen level after menopause
- Chronic constipation
- Chronic cough
- Repeated heavy lifting
How to prevent uterine prolapse?
To reduce the risk of uterine prolapse in women, try to-
- Perform Kegel exercises regularly as they can strengthen your pelvic floor muscles
- Prevent constipation by eating high-fiber fruits and drinking plenty of water. You should also maintain healthy weight.
- Avoid healthy lifting and women with chronic cough should get treatment.
