Men and cervical cancer

The main cause of cervical cancer is Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). There are over 100 strains of HPV and at least 13 of them are cause of cancer. It is sexually transmitted and it can also be transmitted through skin contact. Hence, you might catch it from having unprotected sexual intimacy and unknowingly transmit it to your partner (or) your wife causing cervical cancer to them. Hence, one should definitely use condom when one have sexual intimacy with the new person (not the person you are having regular sexual activity) whether it is just for pleasure or spontaneous act. Apart from being the carrier, we will talk more about types of HPV-related cancer in men. In United State of America, every year 12,000 men have certain kinds of cancer related to HPV infection. Most common HPV- related cancer in men includes throat cancer, anal cancer, colon cancer, mouth cancer and scrotum cancer. Unlike cervical cancer, there are no tests to detect HPV in men. It means one could know that one have HPV related cancer only at later stage. One more distressing problem of HPV in men is having warts on genital. Having vaccination in younger age can prevent some strains of HPV.
